Lava stone is a particular dark natural stone, an effusive rock of volcanic origin that arises from the release of magma. The extraction is concentrated in the typical areas around Etna and Vesuvius, in Italy. At first, it was believed that only the most superficial part of lava was suitable for processing, because it is more porous and easier to obtain. Today, thanks to modern equipment, it is possible to reach the deepest layers where the lava is more compact, hard and lighter in color.
